Pawtucket police bust cocaine operation

PAWTUCKET – On Jan. 20, members of the Pawtucket Police Special Squad executed a court-approved search warrant at 27 Knowles St. in the third-floor apartment. Special Squad investigators had received information and tips that illegal drugs were being distributed from the apartment.

As a result of the search warrant, investigators seized 119 grams of cocaine, 37 grams of marijuana, and $805 in cash. Also seized were various items associated with the street level sales of illegal drugs, including scales and packaging materials.

Juan Franco, age 33, of 27 Knowles St., was taken into custody. Franco was held and was initially arraigned by a bail commissioner on Jan. 21. He was held as a Superior Court violator and sent to the ACI.

Franco was charged with following offenses:

• Possession of cocaine with intent to deliver.
• Possession of cocaine one ounce to one kilogram.
• Possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.
• Maintaining a common nuisance/controlled substances.
• Third or subsequent offense/controlled substances

On Jan. 23, Franco was brought before the District Court of the State of Rhode Island and arraigned on the above charges. He was held without bail.
