Legislators rally behind tax plan

But they want final budget, concessions in place first

WOONSOCKET - The city's delegation to the General Assembly is in the process of drafting two bills aimed at getting Woonsocket out of debt, but they say they will not move the legislation forward until other elements of the Budget Commission's five-year plan fall into place.

Sen. Marc Cote said he will likely sponsor a bill authorizing the city to implement a supplemental tax aimed at bringing in an additional $2.5 million in 2013.
