'LOL Spring Comedy Series' at RIC

PROVIDENCE - Rhode Island College opened its LOL Spring Comedy Series on April 3, with a performance by Michelle Buteau. Upcoming shows feature Erin Jackson, Marina Franklin and Jenny Slate.

The shows will be held in RIC's Sapinsley Hall in the Nazarian Center, 600 Mount Pleasant Ave. Tickets are $5 in advance, and $10 at the door.

* On Wednesday, April 10 at 8 p.m., Erin Jackson performs. Jackson has garnered national attention with performances on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" and Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham." She was a semifinalist on NBC's "Last Comic Standing" and was a featured writer and performer for TBS' "Bitcom" series.

* Marina Franklin performs on Tuesday, April 16, at 8 p.m. Franklin's television appearances include "Chapelle's Show," NBC's "Last Comic Standing," VH1 Oxygen's "Girls Behaving Badly," "Showtime at the Apollo" and Comedy Central's "Premium Blend." She was also a recent correspondent for "The Jay Leno Show."

* Jenny Slate performs Wednesday, April 24, at 8 p.m. Slate is best known as the creator of the "Marchel the Shell with Shoes On" short films, which spun off into a children's book. She played Stella in the HBO comedy series "Bored to Death," and was a cast member on "Saturday Night Live."
