Report: Cumberland, Lincoln schools in good condition with plenty of room

chool buildings in Cumberland and Lincoln are all rated "good" or "generally good" on a survey issued last week by the Rhode Island Department of Education.

That's the finding, in fact, on 75 percent of the 276 public school buildings statewide, according to this first-of-its-kind report that also examined the age and capacity of each one.

According to the report, Cumberland's B.F. Norton School on Broad Street, the Garvin Memorial on High Street, and the McLaughlin Cumberland Hill on Manville Hill Road are in the best condition and rated 1.

In Lincoln, only the Lincoln Middle School on Jenckes Hill Road received the number 1 ranking.

All other Cumberland and Lincoln schools got a 2 ranking, for generally good.
