Public developer Scott Gibbs takes on Branch Village

Says project will succeed but only after stepped-up infrastructure

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Scott Gibbs, the brains behind some of the most successful development projects in the state has taken over as chairman of the North Smithfield Redevelopment Agency.

And he's got a clear message about Branch Village: the project has potential, but will take time and investment on the part of the town.

Gibbs led the development of Highland Corporate Park in Cumberland, a 250 acre industrial mega-complex, with more than 32 lots, all of which are currently full. He has served as president of the Woonsocket Industrial Corporation, and vice president of economic development for the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce. In Burrillville, he helped to transform the town center with a combination of historic preservation, economic development, environmental remediation, and affordable housing at the Stillwater Mill Complex.
