PAWTUCKET – A fire tore through a cluster of houses on Harrison Street Sunday, leaving more than 20 people homeless, killing three pets, and sending two firefighters to the hospital with minor injuries.

Two apartment buildings were completely destroyed, another three sustained heavy damage but are still inhabitable, and three garages/sheds also burned to the ground, according to fire officials.

No residents were injured in the four-alarm blaze.

Fire officials are investigating to determine the cause of the 1:30 p.m. fire, which they said was accelerated by strong winds. Firefighters from Pawtucket, Providence, North Providence, East Providence and Central Falls all assisted.
