Mayor likely to seek bids on private DPW by end of April

NORTH PROVIDENCE – The town may finally be on the brink of launching a private public works department, if Mayor Charles Lombardi has his way.

Lombardi told The Breeze he’s finally ready to move forward with the privatization of a department he says is costing taxpayers too much for too little service. He expects to seek bids from interested companies by the end of the month.

“We think there will be big savings for taxpayers,” he said.
