Ashton student is Cumberland's Future Chef

CUMBERLAND - Andrew McGinn has been cooking since age 3, when he would create dishes out of whatever he could find. A particularly memorable concoction was a batch of green muffins that included the entire contents of a salt shaker.

They were called "good dinners," but even Andrew admits they were anything but.

Thankfully - for both his culinary reputation and his family's stomachs - the 10-year-old's skills have improved.

Andrew, a 4th-grader at Ashton Elementary School, claimed first place at the Sodexo Future Chef Competition on March 9. He is the son of Jay and Andrea McGinn, and brother to Evan, 13, and David, 7.
