Lincoln girl heading to national math competition

LINCOLN - For the second year in a row, 8th-grader Ava Jiang is headed to the Ryatheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition with more than 200 other middle school mathletes from across the country.

Ava, a Lincoln resident, attends Wheeler School. She is the daughter of Ning Jiang and Kui Wang, and sister to Winston, a sophomore at Wheeler.

After spending 6th-grade at Lincoln Middle School, she transferred to the Providence school for 7th-grade.

She made it through four rounds to place first in the state this year at a competition in March, and is headed to nationals in Washington, D.C. with three students from Barrington Middle School. The top four state finishers earn a spot at nationals, which run this year from May 9 through May 12.
