NP Police want high-tech car computers with license scanners

ORTH PROVIDENCE - North Providence Police Chief Paul Martellini plans to outfit his department's new police vehicles with state-of-the-art computers that will allow officers to easily swipe someone's driver's license to gain information about them.

The new equipment would be a huge upgrade over the current computers, according to the chief, allowing police to do their jobs in a more efficient way and all but eliminate errors.
