Twin River officials: Expect table games by July 1

LINCOLN - Twin River Casino will soon switch out hard hats for chips, executives say, as table games are slotted to open for business by July 1.

Construction is ongoing, but tape outlines and cardboard cut-outs can already be seen along the carpeted floor by the Blackstone Cigar Bar near the west entrance, where approximately 65 blackjack, roulette, craps and baccarat tables will soon be installed.

"Poker is not a part of this initial rollout," said Craig Sculos, Twin River vice president and general manager. It is considered a table game and therefore allowed, he said, subject to state approval.

John Taylor, Twin River chairman, said the construction by Gilbane Inc. and all Rhode Island-based contractors has been going even better than expected. Plus, approximately 600 new jobs have been created, he said, topping the 350 touted during the referendum campaign.
