Court rejects Iverson's bid for retroactive pension award

Scituate taxpayers spared $183,225 bill to add $1,400 to his monthly check

CITUATE - The town won a Superior Court decision April 4 that prevents former Town Councilor Richard Iverson from buying state pension credits for his 10 years of service on the council. If left standing, the decision saves the town $183,225.

David M. D'Agostino, an attorney with the town solicitor firm of Gorham & Gorham Inc. in North Scituate, called the decision a victory for taxpayers due to the monetary savings, but said financial considerations were only one reason the Town Council chose to challenge the pension award.
