Smithfield Police shut down medical marijuana shop, future uncertain

SMITHFIELD - A nonprofit business that provides advice to registered users of medical marijuana - and gives them medicinal dosages as well - opened April 10 at 2 Esmond St., but the town shut it down April 23 because it had no certificate of occupancy.

One of the owners, Robert Stacks, of Warwick, said he was confident that required minor repairs and paperwork would be completed in time for the agency, RICaregivers Inc., to re-open as early as this week.
