Forest trail, sidewalks part of planned Slatersville improvements

Town requests DOT savings on bridge be used for pedestrian work

NORTH SMITHFIELD - The town has received a $15,000 grant to build a forest trail through Pacheco Park, and the work may be just the start of good things to come for those who aim to enjoy the area sans wheels.

Town officials also hope to have pedestrian improvements included in the Stone Arch Bridge project slated to begin next year, and have asked the state Department of Transportation to fund the work with money they'll save with the latest redesign plans.
