Russell H. Rondeau - Woonsocket

Russell H. Rondeau, 71, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband for 49 years of Pauline Y. (Grenier) Rondeau. Born in Woonsocket on January 18, 1942, he was the son of the late Walter and Irene (Giguere) Rondeau.

He was the loving father of Russell R. Rondeau and his wife Linda of Burrillville, R.I., Nicole C. Ryan and her husband, David of Cumberland, R.I., and Monique S. Furtado and her husband Mark of North Attleboro, Mass. He leaves his cherished grandchildren, Jacob Ryan, Jared and Jamey Rondeau, Ava Rose and Manuel Furtado. He was the brother of Aimee Rocheleau and her husband Marcel of Fredericksburg, Va., and the late Walter Rondeau; and also leaves his nieces and nephews.

He proudly served as a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in the United States Army Reserve as a Drill Sergeant.

Russell was the proprietor of Russ’s Colonial Restaurant, proprietor and chef of the French Quarter Restaurant, and a chef at Box Seats all of Woonsocket. He worked at General Motors for 25 years as a foreman until their closing.

He was a life member of the Woonsocket Elks Lodge #850 and the Cercle Laurier. He was an avid fisherman and charter boat captain, loved sports and coached youth baseball and played adult softball leagues.

Russell supported local Special Needs Programs. Devoted to his family and friends, he will be greatly missed.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, May 11 at 9 a.m. from CARTIER’S FUNERAL HOME, 151 South Main St. (Route 126), Bellingham, Mass., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Precious Blood Church, Carrington Avenue, Woonsocket, R.I. Visiting hours are on Friday, May 10 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
