Betty Jo Tessier - Woonsocket

Betty Jo Tessier, 86, of Woonsocket, passed away peacefully Friday May 24 at Oakland Grove Health Center.

She was the wife of the late Frederick E. Tessier. Born in Charlotte, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Frontis and Margaret Hartis. She had also lived in Las Vegas for 14 years.

She was a volunteer at the Woonsocket Hospital and the Woonsocket Child Find Program. She was member of the Red Hat Society, a communicant of the former St. Louis Church and a member of the choir.

Betty Jo was the most gentle person you could know. She was considered a saint by her children. Her favorite saying was, “Do something everyday to make yourself happy.”

She is survived by her children, Frederick, Barbara Cote, Mark, Patricia Callas of Las Vegas, Nev., Joan Paquin of Corona, Calif., and Susan Tessier of Woonsocket; grandmother of Jacob and Nicholas Cote, Steven and Rachel Paquin and Scott Callas. She was the mother of the late George and Theresa (Tina) Tessier.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 29 at 6 p.m. in the Chapel Hall at Mount St. Charles Academy, 800 Logee St., Woonsocket. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the George Tessier Scholarship Fund at Mount St. Charles.
