Woonsocket Budget Commission chair takes spot as head of Clean Water Finance

WOONSOCKET – Longtime East Greenwich Town Manager and head of the Woonsocket Budget Commission William Sequino Jr. has taken a position at the helm of R.I. Clean Water Finance Agency, resigning from his 25-year position in municipal government.

Sequino, who announced his resignation from the position in East Greenwich on Tuesday, June 4, will replace retiring 19-year director Anthony Simeone.

Clean Water Finance Agency provides subsidized and low-interest loans to Rhode Island towns for infrastructure projects, such as the current project to upgrade Woonsocket's wastewater treatment facility at a cost of around $38 million.

In is unclear yet if Sequino will need to be replaced in his position as head of Woonsocket's state-appointed fiscal board.
