PROVIDENCE - Auditions for "Doubt, A Parable" by John Patrick Shanley will be held Monday, June 17, and Tuesday, June 18, at 7 p.m. in the Barker Playhouse, 400 Benefit St.

Laura Beauregard-Tvaroha is producing, and Ed Rondeau is the director. The play will be staged Oct. 11-20.

Winner of the 2005 Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award, the play tells the gripping story of suspicion cast on a priest's behavior that is less about scandal than about fascinatingly nuanced questions of moral certainty.

The cast of characters includes rigid, conservative and cynical Sister Aloysius Beauvier, the mother superior and principal of St. Nicholas School; Father Brendan Flynn, a personable middle-aged priest; a young nun named Sister James; and Mrs. Muller, mother of the first and only African-American student in the school.

Auditions will include cold readings from the script. For details, call Beauregard-Tvaroha at 401-368-8469.
