Hop on your bike for a 'Leisurely Tour'

PAWTUCKET - The Blackstone Valley Tourism Council announces its schedule of Leisurely Bicycle Tours showcasing the heritage and culture of Rhode Island's Blackstone River Valley.

This year's schedule has been expanded to include the addition of the historic Arnold House in Lincoln, plus tours of Harrisville Village in Burrillville.

The tours are advertised for all fitness levels, with limited reservations to keep groups small. The cost is $20 per person.

In Pawtucket, tours depart from the Blackstone Valley Visitor, 175 Main Street; in Lincoln, from the Blackstone River State Park Visitor Center on Route 295 North; also in Lincoln from the Arnold House, 487 Great Road; and in Burrillville from the Jesse Smith Library, 100 Tinkham Road, Harrisville.

Tours will operate on the following dates and locations. All tours are roundtrip and run Saturdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

From Pawtucket: June 15, June 29, Aug. 10, Aug. 24, Oct, 5 and Oct. 19.

From the Route 295 Visitor Center in Lincoln: Sept. 7 and Sept. 21.

From the Arnold House on Great Road in Lincoln: July 27.

From the Jesse Smith Library in Harrisville, July 13.

After the tours, guides will point out local cafes, museums and activities.

Also new this year to celebrate their 90th anniversary, Central Falls Provision Company will be offering each tour cyclist an $8 package of handmade Polish products to take home and enjoy a bit of their history. Central Falls Provision is a stop on the Pawtucket tours.
