Providence administrator is Ponaganset's new principal

GLOCESTER - David Estes, an educator from Cumberland, has been appointed the new principal of Ponaganset High School, effective July 1.

At the June 4 meeting, the Foster-Glocester Regional School Committee named Estes to the job, which carries a salary of $108,900, according to the current budget.

Supt. Michael Barnes said the committee interviewed six candidates for the position, narrowed it to three then chose Estes. "He was the candidate we felt was most qualified for the position," Barnes said.

Estes now works at the state Department of Education, on loan from the Providence public school system, according to Barnes. Estes for a time was assistant principal at Central High School in Providence. At Ponaganset, he replaces Sandra Nolan.
