24-hour Denny's brings 70 jobs to Dowling Village

NORTH SMITHFIELD - Denny's, a popular national diner serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 24 hours a day, celebrated its grand opening at Dowling Village this week, bringing several new jobs to the area.

Denny's is the first restaurant to open in the growing Eddie Dowling Highway development, which already includes Lowe's, CVS, Wal-Mart and Aldi supermarket.

Doors of the establishment opened at 6 a.m. on Monday, June 10, but an official ribbon-cutting won't take place until June 25. To kick off the opening festivities, Denny's will be holding a drawing for a chance to win free Grand Slam breakfasts - two buttermilk pancakes, two eggs cooked to order and choice of two bacon strips or sausage links - for a year. Twenty-five guests who visit the North Smithfield location between June 10 and June 25 and fill out an entry form will be chosen in the grand-opening promotion. The drawing will be held on June 25 at 2 p.m., and participants do not need to be present at the time of the drawing.

The new diner is expected to have an impact on the North Smithfield community, as well, creating 70 new jobs for local residents.

"We look forward to becoming a local gathering place where our guests can always count on good service, a great atmosphere, and most importantly, delicious food," said the new restaurant's general manager, Will Esposito.

Denny's has gained popularity in communities across the country over the past several decades, in part because of the diner's come-as-you-are atmosphere. According to a release from the diner, the North Smithfield Denny's will be open 24 hours, 365 days a year serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night items in a relaxed, friendly environment. The restaurant also features outdoor dining, television sets spaced throughout the diner and complimentary Wi-Fi for guests.
