Car-truck accident at Cumberland, C.F. line closes bridge

CUMBERLAND - At about 9:20 a.m. Thursday morning a car and truck collided on Broad St. near Town Hall closing the bridge between Cumberland and Central Falls for more than two hours.

The car, a 4-door Lexus, was heading north on Broad St. when it crossed into the southbound lane and struck a National Grid Utility truck.

Cumberland fire and rescue personnel used "Jaws of Life" tools to extract the driver from the car. The male driver was the only occupant.

The Cumberland Police Department's accident investigation unit finished their field work and reopened the bridge at noon.
