Milford Federal's mortgage head retires after 18 years

WOONSOCKET - Retirement will be bittersweet for Milford Federal Senior Mortgage Loan Specialist Sandy Oliver.

Oliver, who's been with the bank for more than 19 years, and has spent the last 15 making friends and serving clients at the Diamond Hill Road location, will work her last day tomorrow.

"Everything was great about working here," said Oliver. "I don't recall a single day of thinking 'I don't like my job' or 'I don't want to go to work.'"

The Woonsocket resident and great-grandmother has assisted hundreds of locals with home, personal and car loans, and she said she'll miss her repeat customers the most.

"I want to thank all of my new and old customers over the years," she said. "They're the ones who made my business a success."

Co-worker Maria Useinoski says the long-time bank employee will be missed.

"Everyone loves her," said Useinoski. "She goes above and beyond what the job entails."

Oliver will be replaced by Maurice Garces, a Warwick man who has worked as an underwriter at the branch for the past nine months. Garces began his career in the mortgage industry in 1999.

Oliver said her retirement plans include travel and relaxation.
