City's main fireworks display blasts off tonight

PAWTUCKET - The climax of a three-night fireworks extravaganza is set to happen tonight, July 3, at Pawtucket's McCoy Stadium.

The city's main fireworks event, following up two displays on Monday and Tuesday, will follow the 6:15 p.m. game against Scranton. Prior to tonight's game, the PawSox will be hosting a citizenship ceremony for 25 new U.S. citizens.

"One of the things that separates a PawSox fireworks show from any other fireworks show during the Fourth of July week is that patriotic music accompanies the fireworks, a moving experience," said Michael Gwynn, spokesman for the Pawtucket Red Sox.
