Merilyn’s favorite verse in the Bible is Galatians 2:20 which reads:“I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.”

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Whipple and her husband Richard of Kokomo, Ind., and Robin Johnson and her husband Marshall of Stuart, Fla.; her brother, Norman Spencer and his wife Arlene of West Warwick; her daughter-in-law, Robin Durrell-Newcomb of Danielson, Conn.; and seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
