Cumberlandfest has new days, and a real 'country' flavor

CUMBERLAND - Save the dates! The "new" dates, that is.

Cumberlandfest, the town's annual fundraising party at Diamond Hill Park, for the benefit of youth sports and the Boys & Girls Club, will begin on a Thursday, Aug. 8, and end Sunday night, Aug. 11. For the first time, nothing will take place on the Victory Day holiday, Monday, Aug. 12.

This year's entertainment will take on a much more "country" flavor, with Cat Country's Amanda Leonardo on the main stage from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8. Fireworks off the roof of the bandstand at 9 will follow.

On Friday, Aug. 9, will be the popular "Battle of the Bands" with top teen bands from the area on the main stage.

On Saturday, Aug. 10, the aerial fireworks at 10 p.m. will cap an evening of regional country stars on stage including Nicole Frechette, Marla Morris and Jacy Dawn.

The Sunday, Aug. 11 talent includes Cumberland's accordian phenom and world champion, Cory Pesaturo, and vocalist Kelley Lennon. The daytime car show will also return.

On the carnival midway, there will be three opportunites to "pay one price" of $20 for unlimited rides. The $20 wristbands will be available Friday night, Aug. 9, beginning at 6 p.m., and Sunday, Aug. 11, from 12 to 4 p.m. and again from 4 to 8 p.m.

Bingo and the popular Food Court will also be open all weekend long.
