NP Fire conducting hydrant inspections

NORTH PROVIDENCE - The North Providence Fire Department is now conducting hydrant inspections. The yearly inspection program, which should last another week or so, is designed to ensure that all hydrants are in proper working order in the event of an emergency.

Fire officials do not flush hydrants, because that is the function of the Water Supply Board. Residents should not encounter issues with rust in their domestic water, but rust does occasionally occur. If anyone should notice rust in their water, run a cold water faucet, preferably an outside one, until the water runs clean. Then run the inside water before doing laundry or washing dishes.
