Marilyn F. Guay - North Smithfield

Marilyn F. (Gosa) Guay, 76, of No. Smithfield, died Aug. 7, 2013, in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. Born in Camden, N.J., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Thelma (Holmes) Gosa.

Marilyn was the wife of the late Dr. Jean A. Guay for 50 years. She is survived by five sons, Tom and his wife Donna, Joel and Meghan English, Paul and his wife Susan, Marc and his wife Sharon and Bruce and his wife Jackie; two daughters, Michelle and her husband Paul St. Germain and Lisa Anne and her husband Jay Bhatia; and three sisters, Dolores Foulke, Mary Alice Casey and Nancy DiOrio. She was preceded in death by her son John. She also leaves 22 grandchildren, Michael, Allison, Nicole, Catherine, Denyse, Sonya, Monica, Kyle, Jason, James, Mariel, Patricia, John, Michael, Matthew, Stephen, Joseph, Lauren, Joseph, Ryley, Aimee, and Annalise.

Mrs. Guay received her diploma from Misericordia School of Nursing in 1956 and worked as a Registered Nurse for Philadelphia General Hospital, Mercy Hospital, and Woonsocket Hospital. She also was the office manager for her late husband’s medical practice. Marilyn was a communicant, as well as a Eucharistic Minister and CCD teacher, for Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket.

Marilyn was a loyal supporter of the Brothers of the Sacred Heart, Mount St. Charles Academy and its hockey program. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, shopping, dining out at local restaurants, and traveling.

Her funeral will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 9AM from the Holt Funeral Home, 510 So. Main St., Woonsocket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Bellingham, MA.
