'Larceny' suspected at Cumberland Fire District

CUMBERLAND – The State Police executed a search warrant Monday on the Cumberland Fire District's Mendon Road station, seizing financial records as a part of what's been a two-month investigation of a possible larceny.

Capt. Benjamin Barney, assistant commander of the detective division, told The Breeze he could confirm the investigation but would add no details except to say no arrests have been made.

James Leonard, who is chairman of the district's board of trustees, said Monday he has no idea what triggered the investigation nor who could be suspected of theft within the district's organization.
