Marlene S. Wittman - Cumberland

Marlene S. Wittman, 80, of Cumberland passed away Saturday, Aug. 31 at Mount St. Rita Health Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late Richard F. Wittman.

Born in Bedford, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Susan (Curtis) Scarpete. She resided in Cumberland for the past 45 years, previously residing in Ohio, Minnesota and Florida.

Mrs. Wittman was a Registered Nurse. Prior to her retirement, she worked for Gateways to Change Inc., of Warwick for many years; Dr. Thomas Myers Medical Office formerly of Pawtucket; and Home and Hospice Care of RI for 12 years, where she was one of its founding members.

At the age of 16 she started nursing school and graduated from Saint Luke's Hospital and Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. Mrs. Wittman also was the past board president of the ARC of Northern RI. She was REIKI Certified and Jin Shin Jyutsu Certified.

She is survived by her three children, William P. Wittman and his wife Bonnie of Glastonbury, Conn., Jennifer Przybyla and her husband Joseph of Cumberland and Kirk Fox Wittman of Providence; one sister, Beverly Walker of El Cajon, Calif.; and six grandchildren, M. Joshua Alexander and M. Jonathan Alexander, both of Cumberland, and Brent, Benjamin, Bethany and Brooke Wittman, all of Glastonbury, Conn.; and one great-granddaughter, Blake Elizabeth Alexander.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 A.M. in the Chapel at Swan Point Cemetery, Blackstone Blvd., Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 6 to 8 P.M. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road Cumberland.
