Join the conversation on health care Sept. 12

PAWTUCKET - The Latino Policy Institute at Roger Williams University is inviting all to an "important conversation" about HealthSource Rhode Island, the state's health benefits exchange, a new one-stop marketplace for Rhode Islanders to find, compare and purchase affordable health insurance plans.

"HealthSource R.I.: Connecting You to Affordable Quality Health Insurance Options" will take place on Thursday, Sept. 12, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tierra Restaurant and Lounge, 17 Exchange St.

HealthSource R.I. will also enable qualifying individuals and families to receive tax credits to help pay for insurance, and will connect Rhode Islanders who qualify to low-cost or no-cost insurance options, according to a news release.

Latino Public Institute Director Anna Cano Morales will give opening remarks about the changing demographics of Rhode Island and the importance of reliable data that informs important policy. She will introduce HealthSource R.I. Director Christine Ferguson.

Following Ferguson's presentation and a question and answer session, John Gregory, president and CEO of the Northern Rhode Island Chamber of Commerce, will offer closing remarks about engaging small business owners.
