Using a swarming defense, the Lincoln Lions Blackstone Valley American Youth Football League 5th-grade team remained undefeated by blanking the Cumberland Colts, 26-0, Sunday at the Lincoln High School field.
That moved the Lions to a perfect 3-0 for the season and in a virtual tie for first place.
In other 5th-grade play, the North Smithfield Xpress topped the New Bedford Whalers, 13-6, to record its first win of the season; Darlington Braves hammered the Seekonk Junior Warriors, 18-0; CLCF Chiefs defeated the Fairlawn Cardinals, 20-0; the Johnston Panthers downed the West Warwick Steelers, 20-0, and the Providence North End 49ers defeated the East Providence Junior Townies, 26-6.
CLCF and North End are 4-0-0, followed by Lincoln, 3-0; Darlington, 3-1; Fairlawn, 2-1; Seekonk, 2-2; Cumberland, 2-2; Johnston, 2-2; New Bedford, 1-3; North Smithfield, 1-3; Fall River, 0-3; West Warwick, 0-3, and East Providence, 0-4.
In Junior Mite Division play, North Smithfield defeated Fall River, 13-6; CLCF smacked the Upper Cape Spartans, 26-0; South Attleboro White Hawks White bashed East Providence, 43-13; Lincoln blanked Cumberland, 19-0; New Bedford edged Central Falls, 6-0; Darlington got by Seekonk, 12-7; Johnston nipped West Warwick, 20-19; the Woonsocket Redskins got by the Fairlawn Cardinals, 6-0, and East Providence slammed South Attleboro Black, 25-0.
