Audition for O'Donnell comedy at Theatre Works

WOONSOCKET - Theatre Works announces open auditions for the second show of its 31st season: Frank O'Donnell's "A Christmas Carmella."

The show, which will open Dec. 6, is a spin-off of the two popular Ant'ny Claus shows written by O'Donnell and presented by Theatre Works in 2011 and 2012. In this one, Carmella (Ant'ny Claus' mother-in-law) is asked to tell her grandkids the classic "A Christmas Carol," but because she gave the book away, she's forced to tell it from memory, with some interesting twists. This isn't your Grandma's "Christmas Carol."

Most roles are open, and auditioners will be asked to do cold readings from the script.

Needed are four teenagers, male or female; eight 20- to 30-year olds; and 10 actors ages 30-60. Some actors could be cast in multiple roles.

Auditions will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m., and Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 7 p.m. at Theatre Works, 142 Clinton St. No appointment is necessary.
