Pawtucket Fright Night event needs volunteers

PAWTUCKET - The Pawtucket Parks and Recreation Division is seeking volunteers for the annual "Fright Night in the Park" event at Slater Memorial Park.

Events will include the Haunted Tunnel at Slater Park's Daggett Farm, Halloweenland, The Woods, and various carousel activities. Volunteer organizations are welcome to help run children's activities in the carousel.

Fright Night in the Park runs from Oct. 4 to Oct. 26, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Volunteers must be at Daggett Farm by 6 p.m. each night and commit to the entire evening. Applications must be filed with the recreation director prior to volunteering. Volunteers are encouraged to provide their own mask and/or costume. Organizers recommend that volunteers dress in an original costume, mask or makeup (no movie characters). Pizza and soft drinks will be provided to all volunteers at the end of each night. Community service letters will be provided upon request. Volunteers must be 15 years or older to participate in one of the three event locations. Parents are encouraged to volunteer and assist with other aspects of the event.

Anyone interested in helping out must fill out applications before they can volunteer. Teenager and adult application packets are available at the Slater Park office. Individuals or organizations are asked to direct questions to John Blais by calling 401-728-0500, ext 257, or emailing jblais@pawtucketri.com.
