Autumfest buttons now available

WOONSOCKET - Area residents and visitors to Autumnfest can show their support for the annual festival this year by purchasing an Autumnfest button for $1.

Buyers will not only be entered for a chance to win a trip for two to Florida or a cash prize, they'll also be helping to preserve a Woonsocket tradition for future years.

The buttons can be purchased at all Li'l General stores, The Broaster House, Pepin Lumber, Beacon Charter School, Milford Savings, Kennedy Manor, Park View Manor, Waterview Apartments, Wright's Dairy Farm, The Valley Breeze, The Woonsocket Call and Dean Bank.

The buttons will also be sold at the entrances to the festival throughout the Columbus Day Weekend event by members of the Woonsocket Quota Club.

The buttons cost $1 each, and people can buy as many as they wish for a chance to win the big prize offered each year or the three smaller cash prizes.

This year, the grand prize, sponsored by WNRI, is a four-day, three-night stay for two in Orlando, Fla., with airfare and accommodations paid for two people, according to Bill Schneck, button chairman.

The cash prize drawings are for $300, $200 and $100. The grand prize winning button number will be drawn at 6:15 p.m. as the festival ends on Columbus Day. If a new number needs to be drawn, it will be listed on WNRI's website every day through November, until a winner is found.

"We had 8,000 buttons printed this year," said Schneck, who is returning as button chairman after a year's absence. "The buttons are also a keepsake and there are people who have a collection of every single button that was made since we began this."
