Volunteers sought for emergency training in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET - The Pawtucket Emergency Management Agency is seeking to recruit volunteers to assist with Medical Points of Distribution response in case of a public safety emergency.

The Pawtucket Emergency Management Agency will hold an orientation for prospective volunteers on Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the EMA Operations Center, 250 Armistice Blvd., from 6 to 8 p.m.

Volunteers will be trained in how to assist with setting up a MEDS POD that would provide medications or vaccines to a large number of people in the community in a short period of time.

Prospective volunteers should be age 18 or older. In the event of an emergency, all medical aspects will be handled by medical personnel, according to EMA Director Normand Menard.
