Correction on rezoning hearing

CUMBERLAND - Neighbors in Cumberland Hill have been put in the position of protesting a rezoning application based on erroneous information by the attorney, the Town Clerk's Office and The Valley Breeze.

At issue is an application by D. CO Properties to rezone 3970 Mendon Road from single-family residential to light commercial. Proposed are administrative offices near the corner of Mendon Road and Sherman Avenue. The attorney here is Scott Partington.

Residents in this area were startled to receive information initially from Partington's office that, because an old map was consulted, seemed to suggest the return of an application for a methadone clinic.

Compounding the confusion, The Breeze mixed up the D. CO Properties and D. Corp on Secretary of State business records to find an entirely different owner of the property.

Finally, the proposal missed the agenda for the Planning Board and was therefore delayed before the Town Council and residents were advised by mail of the wrong hearing date. The actual date is Wednesday, Dec. 6, according to Town Clerk Sandra Giovanelli.
