Dr. Farrelly dies in Mashpee, Mass.

MASHPEE -- Dr. Robert Leo Farrelly, 82, a popular Cumberland family doctor known for his bedside manner, died on Oct. 6 on the Cape where he had been living.

Farrelly, who with his wife Mariann raised the Farrelly movie-making team of Peter and Bobby, graduated from Tufts Medical School in 1956 and entered the Army Medical Corps, where he rose to the rank of captain. He began practicing medicine in Cumberland in 1959. He also taught at Brown University Medical School.

In addition to his wife and sons, he's survived by daughter Beth Jordan of Duxbury, Mass.; daughter Kathryn Farrelly of Duxbury, Mass.; daughter Cindy Gesner of Malibu, Calif., and many grandchildren.
