Man arrested from Saturday shooting incident in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET – The Woonsocket Police Department has released the name of the man at the center of an incident in which a city police officer fired his weapon in the Social District during the early morning hours on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Angelo Luiz Perez, 48 of 175 Sixth Ave., has been charged with domestic disorderly conduct, violation of a no contact order and felony assault with a dangerous weapon.

According to a release from the WPD, Perez was arrested in Bellingham, Mass. on the same day police were called to the area of Clinton and Pond Streets for reports of a domestic crime. Perez is reportedly the suspect in that crime, which is still under investigation by the Woonsocket Police Department.

The department has released few details about the circumstances surrounding the shots fired at the scene, stating only that police arrived at the area around 1:20 a.m. and the weapon was fired outdoors.

Perez is currently being held in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice and it is unknown when he will be arraigned in Rhode Island.
