Mayor-elect seeks applications for school board

WOONSOCKET - Applications are being accepted for five positions on a new, appointed Woonsocket School Board for staggered terms that range from one to three years. Candidates must be city residents and registered voters. Individuals with strong finance, public policy and educational experience, as well as exhibiting an understanding of the diversity of the community, are encouraged to apply.

School Board members are appointed for terms which are staggered to have positions up for renewal each year. The school board application deadline is Monday, Nov. 25, at 4 p.m.

All are encouraged to reach out to organizations and community groups to invite individuals to apply. The application can be found on the city's website at www.ci.woonsocket.ri.us/. Completed applications should be emailed or delivered to Christina Harmon-Duarte, director of Personnel, at cduarte@woonsocketri.org or at Woonsocket City Hall. Upon receipt of the applications, the School Board Nominating Committee, appointed by mayor-elect Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, will select nominees from the pool of finalists for consideration. The new board will be subject to City Council approval. School Board members will receive compensation set by ordinance of the City Council.
