Smithfield Congregational Church to hold Chrismon Service

PAWTUCKET - The congregation of Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church, 514 Smithfield Ave., invites the public to kick off the Advent Season with its annual Chrismon Service on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 4 p.m.

A Chrismon Service is a worship service for Christmastime, designed to incorporate the meaning of Chrismons, or symbols of Christ. The symbols are presented, explained, and then hung on the Chrismon tree. Most Chrismons are familiar signs such as the Epiphany star, the Christmas rose, the manger, the angel, and many others.

Refreshments will follow the service.
