WOONSOCKET – A two-alarm fire at 243 Lydia Avenue early Tuesday morning left one man dead, after a blaze fire marshals say may have been caused by a cigarette.

Charles Ernest Deerheide, 50, lived alone in the single story house, and was believed to have fallen asleep in his living room while smoking.

The fire was reported at 6:15 a.m. and reportedly contained to one room of the home.
