CUMBERLAND - A move from the Cumberland House of Pizza plaza to the former church across from Davenport's Restaurant on Mendon Road means more space for wellness center It's My Health.

Classes and product lines can now be expanded to fill the entire building, said owner Marie Bouvier-Newman, who first opened her shop in Cumberland more than five years ago after moving from Pascoag, where she started It's My Health in 2006.

Earlier this month, the Pascoag resident opened her doors at 1099 Mendon Road in the space previously occupied by A Bride's Day wedding photographers.

"I love the energy in here," Bouvier-Newman said, explaining that the business needed a bigger and quieter space.

The stock of vitamins, herbs, personal care products and healthy snack foods are located in the front retail space, where a tea room is currently in the process of being built.

"One of my goals is to carry the most tea in Rhode Island," Bouvier-Newman said.

She said she favors high-quality, local products and is "very fussy" about what she carries so to not overwhelm customers with too many choices.

A multi-purpose room houses classes for Tai Chi, four different types of yoga, Reiki, meditation and reflexology. The basement will also be used for more classes.

A medium visits several times a year, a Unity Church study group meets every Monday, and a course in miracles meets every Tuesday. There are also diet and weight-management classes, and Bouvier-Newman said she has plans to use the on-site kitchen to expand course offerings.

There is a private room for massage therapy, and another space for a hairdresser who will use no chemicals.

Bouvier-Newman said classes, products and services are meant to help clients spiritually, emotionally and physically.

"Everything we do is about health," she said.

Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. A grand opening open house has been planned for Saturday, Jan. 18.
