LHS student leads 'Learn to Swim' program Dec. 23

CUMBERLAND - The Boys & Girls Club of Cumberland-Lincoln will host a free "Learn to Swim" program on Monday, Dec. 23, from 1 to 3 p.m. as part of a Lincoln High School student's exhibition project.

LHS junior Liza Korotkova is working to combat issues of drowning and water safety through education at the club at 1 James McKee Way.

In her studies, when students must find a problem and propose ways to solve it, Liza found that drowning is one of the leading causes of death worldwide.

Because of her experience as a lifeguard and swim instructor at the Boys & Girls Club, she has been inspired to offer this program to the community to increase water safety awareness, teach basic water survival skills and refine swimming basics.

Space is limited. To register, call the club at 401-333-4850.
