Information sought in Lincoln hit and run

LINCOLN – The Lincoln Police Department seeks the public's help in investigating a hit and run accident on Saturday, Dec. 21, that sent a 23-year-old female pedestrian to the hospital.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. that night, the woman and a male companion were crossing Front Street in the area of Franklin Street in a designated crosswalk area when she was struck by the car, described by police as a light colored, newer sedan that was possibly a Hyundai or Toyota. The male pedestrian, who was not reportedly injured, witnessed the accident.

The car, which is expected to have damage to a front light assembly, reportedly continued traveling east down Front Street.

The woman sustained "significant injuries," police said, and was attended to by Lincoln Rescue 4 before being transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where she was in stable condition last week.

LPD officers are working to obtain video footage from business surveillance cameras and follow up with witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to call LPD at 401-333-1111.
