Morin pledges support for Baldelli-Hunt's goals

WOONSOCKET - Michael Morin, the endorsed candidate in the Democratic primary for state representative in District 49, said his top priority will be to work with Mayor Lisa Baldelli-Hunt "to get the city out from the under the control of the Budget Commission."

Said Morin in a press release this week, "Mayor Baldelli-Hunt needs a partner at the Statehouse to carry out her agenda of returning our city back to firm financial footing. The Budget Commission is scheduled to implement tax increases in each of the next five years, which Woonsocket's taxpayers simply can't afford."

Morin said he will focus on obtaining the state funds and other legislative measures that will be needed to help Woonsocket remove the Budget Commission.

"I am proud to have received the support of Mayor Baldelli-Hunt because I am the only candidate who has pledged to work with her to accomplish her goals," said Morin.

"She held this representative seat for the past seven years and I am honored that she wants me to succeed her and carry out the work that she started at the state level. We will need to obtain state tax incentives to attract new businesses to our city. We must begin to turn our economy around, and we can only do that by working collectively between the city and the state."

The Democratic primary will be held on Jan. 21. The winner is unopposed in the general election in February, so Morin stressed the importance of voting in the primary.
