Almonte endorsed by Scituate Democratic Town Committee

Ernie Almonte, candidate for general treasurer, has secured the endorsement of the Scituate Democratic Town Committee.

"Our committee is proud to endorse the candidacy of Ernie, as he has a proven track record of achievement on the local, regional and national financial management platforms," said Carol Costa, chairwoman of the SDTC. "He is a results oriented go-getter, and that is what we need in these fiscally troubled times. Ernie represents the values held deeply by this group, financial management skills and a stellar reputation in the fiscal profession."

Almonte said he is grateful to the SDTC for backing his campaign and "my efforts to improve Rhode Island's financial foundation."

"I am proud to have their trust as well as their support for my vision of a better Rhode Island," he said. "As the next general treasurer, I will use my education, ethics, experience and maturity to ensure that all Rhode Islanders and municipalities have the financial tools and guidance they need to navigate these challenging times."

Almonte said the endorsement shows that Rhode Island residents are hearing his message and relating to it.

"The momentum gives us confidence that voters are ready for a fresh face and a strong leader," he said.

Almonte said the state needs a treasurer with the credentials and experience to handle the state's complex financial matters. The next treasurer "must have vision and values that align with those of the state's residents," he said. "I look forward to the opportunity to serve my state in a dignified and ethical manner."

Almonte said he believes Rhode Island has a bright future and he is "eager to help us realize that potential.
