Project Chick returns to the library

CUMBERLAND - The Children's Room of the Cumberland Public Library is bringing back the Project Chick program this year.

On Thursday, March 27, from 4 to 5 p.m., children ages 3-12 are invited to the Community Room where a farm educator from Casey Farm in Saunderstown will present a slide show about how chickens are raised at their farm.

The children will learn about the life cycle of chickens, see a display of various bird eggs - from hummingbird to ostrich, touch a live hen and observe her chicks.

The Children's Room will receive all supplies needed to incubate a clutch of eggs. Visitors can keep an eye on the incubator for 21 days until the chicks hatch.

The baby chicks will be returned to Casey Farm on Friday, April 25.

Tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning Saturday, March 15, in the Children's Room.
