Brunch will benefit couple who lost all in fire

WOONSOCKET - The friends of long-time Woonsocket residents Claire and Del Senecal, who lost their home in a Feb. 19 fire, are hosting a brunch to raise funds for them on Saturday, April 5. Brunch will be served from 10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

The event, called "Rising from the Ashes," will be held at the Good Times Pub Restaurant, 1666 Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland.

The evening fire that took the Senecal home on Larch Street, left the couple with only the night clothes they were wearing, according to friends. Lost in the blaze, too, was their French bulldog Bibbitt.

Friends say the home had been in the family since the Great Depression and occupied by the couple for 48 years.

Claire is the associate registrar at Bryant University and active as a volunteer in the Pet Assisted Therapy program. She's the co-founder of Community Canines for Companionship and Care.

Del works at Packaging & More in Central Falls and is an avid fisherman.

Tickets are $25 per person.
