Lane to replace Schaefer on Budget board

WOONSOCKET - Budget Commission member Peder Schaefer resigned from his role on the board that handles city finances this week, citing conflicts with his position as a lobbyist for the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns.

Schaefer, who has served on the commission since it was first formed in May 2012, announced the news at a meeting this week.

State Revenue Director Rosemary Booth Gallogly has appointed Bernard Lane, chief financial officer for the state Department of Administration, to serve as Schaefer's replacement. Lane previously served as a financial analyst for the city of Warwick.
